Tough Mudder

Untimed mud-and-obstacle challenge built around teamwork, not the clock.

Outdoor Trail Untimed 20 events in the catalogue

Overview

What it is

Tough Mudder 5K and 15K are not races — nobody is timed, obstacles are built for teamwork, and finishing comfortably is the whole game. Your plan is built for comfort and logistics, not performance.

Competition exists only in the Endurance Series: Infinity (8-hour multi-lap) and World’s Toughest Mudder (24-hour).

Format

How the race works

  • Tough Mudder 5K: 12+ obstacles
  • Tough Mudder 15K: 20+ obstacles
  • Infinity: 8-hour competitive multi-lap — first lap must be 15K; official finisher from 20 km
  • World’s Toughest Mudder: 24 hours, 5-mile laps, 13–20+ obstacles per lap, competitive

Rules

Rules worth knowing

  • Untimed on 5K and 15K — skipping an obstacle carries no penalty
  • Spikes and cleats are strictly prohibited
  • No mandatory gear beyond photo ID and your ticket
  • Minimum ages: 5K 14+, 15K 16+, Infinity/WTM 18+

Timings

Times and start waves

  • Organiser averages: 5K takes 2–2.5 h · 15K 3.5–4 h — mud is slow
  • You pick a 1-hour start window at registration; waves release about every 15 minutes
  • Arrive at least 30 minutes before your window; the event info pack lands ~2 weeks out
  • Water stations on every course, plus snacks — typically bananas and energy bars
